Healing is not about Recovery, it's about Discovery
~Edith Edgar
Because it works. Therapy can empower you to take the action you want.
• Therapy can help you achieve your goals. If you aren’t sure of what your goals are, therapy can help you clarify them and set realistic steps to meet them.
• Therapy can help you have more fulfilling relationships. Whether you’re single or in relationship, therapy can help you address difficulties relating to others, such as insecurity in relationships or difficulty trusting your partner(s).
• You’re more likely to have better health. Research supports a link between mind and body wellness. Untreated mental health issues can impact physical wellness. On the other hand, people in good emotional health may be more able to deal with physical health issues that arise.
• We all experience hard times in our lives. Trauma is not what happened - the particular event or events - it is what fails to happen as a response. Working with a qualified counselor can help you shift your unwanted patterns so you can feel a deeper sense of belonging and contentment.
• Therapy can lead to improvement in all areas of life. If you feel like something is holding you back from living life as you envision it, therapy can help you address this. When you aren’t sure what’s keeping you from making change, therapy can help you discover the answer.
In our fast paced world it isn't always easy to make time to slow down and deeply reflect on who we are and who we aspire to be in this world. Whether you are struggling with self-sabotaging behaviours and thought-patterns, or are feeling held back from the life you desire, working with a therapeutic counselor provides a safe space for you to explore whatever you are holding without judgement. By using a variety of therapeutic interventions, we will help you pinpoint the patterns and beliefs in your life that are holding you back and open the doors of possibility.
My style is collaborative, gentle and direct. While the topics we discuss will often be serious, I have a quick-wit and a playful nature that can weave laughter along with tears and ah-ha's. I bring a diverse set of skills to the table, including experience in post-secondary teaching, training, crisis intervention and leading teams of various sizes, both paid and volunteer. I possess an ability to make complex topics understandable. I have experience supporting people as they discover their joy!
